Meet Kayla Hernandez, LMHC
EMDR & Anxiety Therapist in Washington State
She/Her/Hers
If you're tired of feeling stuck and tired of having to hold it all together you're in the right place.
Maybe you seem fine on the outside. You've gotten really good at pretending.
Most people would describe you as high-functioning, driven, maybe even "put together."
But inside, it's a different story. You feel stuck in patterns you can't think your way out of. You overanalyze, push through, stay busy — and the same emotional loops keep showing up anyway. Anxiety, shutdown, burnout, overthinking, perfectionism. It's exhausting.
And at some point you started asking:
Why isn’t this getting better?
You've done the reading. Maybe you've done years of talk therapy. You can explain your patterns in detail. But understanding them hasn't made them stop.
That's the gap I work in.
My Approach
A lot of therapy stays at the level of insight. You learn why you do the thing — but the thing keeps happening.
I work at the root instead. I use an integrated, trauma-informed approach and adapt it to what you actually need, drawing from:
EMDR — helps your brain fully process experiences that are still "stuck," so they stop showing up as anxiety, triggers, and overwhelm
Internal Family Systems (IFS) — for understanding the different parts of you that are pulling in different directions
Somatic work — because this stuff lives in your body, not just your mind
The goal isn't to manage symptoms forever. It's to actually shift what's driving them.
Who I work best with:
I do my best work with people who:
Are high-functioning on the outside but struggling underneath
Feel stuck despite real insight, self-awareness, or past therapy
Live with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or shutdown
Are tired of carrying everyone and everything
Are ready for change — even if they don't have it all figured out yet
You don’t need to have everything figured out.
You just need to be ready to do the work.
Two Ways We Can Work Together
Weekly Individual Therapy
Ongoing support at a steady pace. We meet weekly to work through anxiety, patterns, and overwhelm with room to go at a rhythm that feels sustainable.
A good fit if you want consistent, paced support.
EMDR Intensives
Focused, condensed work for faster momentum. Instead of stopping and restarting every week, we work in longer blocks to make meaningful progress in a fraction of the time. A good fit if your schedule is full, you've plateaued in weekly therapy, or you want to move faster.
Training & Background
I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State, and my work is grounded in trauma specialization and real clinical experience — not just theory.
My training includes:
EMDR therapy for trauma and anxiety
Advanced training in trauma and dissociation
Level I training through the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD)
The Finding Solid Ground Program for stabilizing trauma-related symptoms
An integrative approach drawing from somatic and parts-based (IFS) work
Why Work With Me?
A lot of therapy stops at awareness. You understand the pattern, you can name it, and it's still running your life.
My work is built to change that:
I focus on resolution, not just insight — actually shifting the pattern, not just describing it
I use structured, evidence-based methods that target the root of the issue
I offer both weekly therapy and intensives, so you can work at the pace that fits your life
I have advanced training in complex trauma and dissociation through the ISSTD
I'm direct, and I show up as an actual human in the room. Let's be honest — nobody wants a therapist who just nods and says "ahh I see.”
We're not only talking about change. We're building it.
